Its the final countdown

Hello Everyone,

Our Medical team abroad is so very excited to return to Nepal after 15 months. We had changed our dates for the Mission to navigate around holidays and Nepali wedding season. Hopefully the change to spring will yield easier travel for our patients.

Our team is finally shaping up with 3 surgeons, 2 nurses, 1 resident, 1 volunteer and 1 team administrator  and hopefully an anesthesiologist. We are so very excited to work with the wonderful doctors of Nepal Orthopedic Hospital. This will be my 4th trip to NOH and Healing the Children's 7th. The doctors, staff and patients are like a family to us now. It is so great to not only bring much needed supplies and surgical skills but to reconnect with our patients and our friends in Kathmandu.

Nepal is unlike any country I have ever been, truth be told I have been to exactly 10 countries outside of the US, It is poor and rich at the same time, what people lack in tangible goods and possessions they make up for in kindness, warmness and an easiness that is not found elsewhere.

We are so fortunate to be able to help support a wonderful hospital with their own mission of charitable giving.

We are all busy packing, making lists and checking them twice. Reviewing flights, hotel accommodations, patient lists and travel advisories.

While this trip has come together relatively well, we always struggle with fundraising. We would like to help as many children and adults with foot and ankle deformities as possible and money really does help the situation.

Cash is king, the more cash we have the more crutches we can buy, the more pain medicine we can buy, the more braces and shoes we can buy for our patients whose family on average bring home about 1 us dollar a day.

Please consider donating to our MTA 2015 in Kathmandu www.htcorwwa.org..

We set our on our mission on the 13 March. Most of us will arrive 15 March and start our screening process 16 March. I will be sure to keep everyone abreast of our situation on the ground. I will post lots of photos and make sure to keep you following our trip.

Again we would be so grateful if you would contribute to our mission, we know there are so many good charities out there. Please consider helping children and adults with foot and ankle deformities, keep moving forward.

Namaste
Dr Jennifer
